Marine Shoreline Protection

If you have waterfront property, you will want to protect it from erosion. Our staff marine construction designer is the local expert when it comes to cost-effective and environmentally sound ways to protect coastal shorelines, including the design of living shorelines. He can do a site-specific detail design, prepare the application plans and other required documents, submit the application for processing, represent the project at any required public hearings, and secure all permits needed for construction. He can also assist you in locating a qualified marine contractor to do the work.

Bayshore Design has designed and obtained permits for more than two thousand waterfront erosion control projects. Due to the complexity of the permit application process and the involvement of multiple overlapping regulatory agencies (state, federal, and local), working with Bayshore Design will save you valuable time and effort.

Living shoreline treatments, such as beach nourishment, wetlands vegetation planting, and coir log or oyster shell bags sills, are now the preferred method of shoreline stabilization for low to moderate energy shorelines. Living shorelines are site specific and additional hardened structures such as rip-rap sills, spurs and breakwaters may be required to ensure the success of the stabilization treatment. In many cases, living shorelines, and living shorelines with associated rock structures, are the only type of shoreline stabilization treatments the regulatory and permitting agencies will approve.
